    Run rate & overs calculator

Cricket writes overs as overs.balls — so 12.4 means 12 overs and 4 balls, not 12.4 of anything decimal.

    Calculator

    Format: overs.balls, e.g. 12.4

    Runs needed to win = opponent's total + 1

    12.4 overs = 76 legal balls

Current run rate: 6.00 runs per over

    Need 85 from 44 balls (7.2 overs) — required rate 11.59

Required rate treats every remaining ball as legal; wides and no-balls add extra deliveries and runs in real matches. For learning and following matches only.

    An over, ball by ball

One over is six legal balls. After the sixth, the count rolls over to the next whole over — so there's no such thing as “.6”.

Four balls bowled in the 13th over: written 12.4. Two more and it becomes 13.0.

Wides and no-balls don't count as legal balls, so the bowler must bowl them again. Read more in our guide to how cricket scoring works.
